Aiden is 4; and most would probably say he should be able to wipe his own hiney- however if your an anal Mom like me, you know just as well as I do that if a 4 year old is wiping his own butt (without you at least checking it)... your definitely going to have to use "Spray and Wash" on their underwear! So, I'm trying to get out of this awful habit of always checking him; and usually allow him to attempt it (without my assistance) when I'm busy with Liam! I've bought the Pampers Kan-Doo wet wipes and demonstrated several times, the proper way to wipe his own bottom. However, let's face it- he's more worried about being outside, watching that cartoon on the tv, or playing with his toys!! If he could just hop down off the toilet and be on his way... he absolutely would!
So today I'm sitting on the couch; dealing with a very fussy Liam who I just can't get settled. Aiden gets up off the couch, drops his pants 5 feet BEFORE he gets to the bathroom and announces that "he has to poop and pee!" Within a matter of a few minutes he's yelling for me to come check his butt; however by this time Liam is screaming at the top of his lungs .. completely over-tired! So I simply just yell back to him that he has to try to do it this time.. remember the ways Mommy has showed you! Not another word came from the bathroom, and even if it did I can't admit that I even heard it over the loud crying of Liam in my ear. Finally about 10 minutes later Liam is finally quiet and passed out in my arms. (darn teeth!! wish they would just pop through already) It's silent in the bathroom.... besides the running water of the sink.....
I don't say a word for about 2-3 minutes; because besides the fact of a boy not caring about wiping his bottom, he LOVES to wash his hands... and that's what I assume he is doing! Another moment or two passes and I yell "what are you doing Aiden?" I don't get a response back. So I yell it again... this time getting a reply of ..."nothing!" YEA RIGGGHHHTT! So I place Liam down and head to the bathroom...... There's Aiden standing at the sink, underwear still down around his ankles, splashing around in an almost-filled-to-the-top sink!! Once I turn off the water, check his bottom (I know ... I know.. trying to break the habit), and pull up his underwear; I realize the water is not draining from the sink. In the water sits a ton of floating toilet paper, and the water has no intentions of going down!
So.. now what!? I simply grab the plunger and start plungering the sink... however to no surprise the water just splashes up and over the sink.. so now there's wet toilet paper all over the bathroom floor as well!! Sigh.. well that's the only thing I can think to do... guess it's staying like that until Daddy gets home from work, because let's face it- I am not sticking my hand in there and trying to grab things out of the drain! grossss.....
Lesson Learned Today... wiping your 4 year olds bottom is far better than sticking your hand down a drain that they clogged with toilet paper!! Who knows what lurks down there......
